Resurrected Bites receives funding for a new van
Resurrected Bites recently received an award of £10,000 from the Dennis Smith Legacy Fund to buy a replacement van. The Harrogate Brigantes Rotary Club were left a legacy in the will of one of their friends, Dennis Smith, to be used to support local charities. Resurrected Bites was one of 14 charities to receive funding in the first round of awards.
Simon Lee, Operations Manager at Resurrected Bites said: “Having a safe and reliable van is critical to the efficient running of our service, as we use it every day for our food collections and deliveries.
“The award couldn’t have come at a better time, as our old van was on its last legs and kept breaking down. The van being out of action was not only affecting the day to day running of our operations, but the cost of repairs was also proving to be very expensive. And that was money that would be much better spent on covering the running costs of our community cafes and groceries in Harrogate and Knaresborough.
“We’re extremely grateful to Dennis and the Rotary Club for their generosity and for recognising the value of the work we do in the local community. Thanks to them, we’ve been able to buy a much better second-hand van which is keeping us on the road to achieving our mission of reducing food waste and food poverty by ‘filling bellies not bins’.”
