Michelle Hayes announces her departure from Resurrected Bites as CEO

After much soul searching, Michelle has decided to step down to allow a new CEO to lead the next phase of development and long-term sustainability. 

Resurrected Bites was founded in 2018 by Michelle Hayes who is the current Chief Executive. Michelle said: “After 8 years of having the privilege of leading an incredible team which has served thousands of people and saved many tonnes of food from going to waste, I have decided it is time for me to move on to a new venture and for someone else to take Resurrected Bites to the next stage. We are in the strongest position we have ever been in and there has never been a better time to hand over the reins.” 

The Harrogate-based charity and community interest company collects good-quality surplus food and redistributes it through low-cost community groceries and give-as-you-can cafés across Harrogate, Killinghall and Knaresborough. The model reduces food waste while improving access to affordable food and strengthening community connection. 

The role is part-time (22.5–30 hours per week), home-based with local travel, and combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight.  

The Board is looking for an experienced senior leader with strong financial oversight, operational competence and the ability to build trusted local partnerships. Commercial awareness and disciplined management are as important as commitment to social impact, the environment and the organisation’s Christian values. 

Richard Hall, Chair of Trustees said: 

“Resurrected Bites has proven that a practical, well-run model can reduce food waste and improve access to affordable food and tackle loneliness, all at the same time. We are now looking for a new Chief Executive who can strengthen what we’ve built and position us for long-term resilience.”
